Electric Guitar Lessons in South London and Online
If there’s one thing I’m excited about more than playing guitar myself, it’s passing on this fantastic skill to others eager to pursue it.
Whether you’re looking to pick up a new hobby, improve your playing for an academic ambition, or start your own music project: there are countless reasons to become a guitarist and I’d love to help you reach your goals.
Lessons
I teach beginner students the rudiments of electric guitar, focusing on technique, theory, and practical skills to improve guitar playing ability and confidence.
I tailor lessons to the interests and needs of the student: get in touch to arrange an intro call and we can run through what you’d like to get out of your lessons and how I can help you.
About Me
I’m a working musician and have had my band and compositions featured in publications including the NME, Stereogum, DORK, and Line of Best Fit, as well as broadcast by DJs including Steve Lamacq (BBC 6 Music), Cheryl Waters (KEXP), and John Kennedy (Radio X). Read more about me here.
I hold an Enhanced DBS certificate, which I can share with parents/guardians upon request.
What will we cover?
Technique
Play your guitar the right way the first time. Throughout our lessons, we’ll go over the best ways to play your instrument: whether this is holding the plectrum correctly, alternate picking, or perhaps a technique you need to hone to play your favourite song.
We’ll make sure you’re comfortable playing your guitar and that you are set up for the future with good playing habits.
Theory
Ever wondered why a riff or chord progression sounds great or seems to just ‘make sense’? Demystify the hows and whys of what makes something sound great on guitar.
We’ll cover music theory in an approachable and comprehensible way to ensure that you not only know how to make the what you’re playing sound good, but understand why it does as well. We’ll cover topics such as scales, chords, and reading tabs.
Practical
We’ll cover practical guitar playing like improvisation, composition, and learning songs from your favourite artists. We’ll learn how to write your own songs, how to improvise, and much more.
